Celebrate the Century is an award winning promotional event, distinguished as the most ambitious stamp-themed public relations program ever offered by the U.S. Postal Service.
The “CTC Express” (Exhibit Train), “Stampin’ the Future” (Students design stamps for the 21st century), and “Stamps of the Century” (Public votes for best stamps of each decade) are all contained in this nationwide public relations/marketing event.
Initially contracted to transform the U.S. Railway Post Office (RPO) car into an interactive, educational space for the nation-wide train tour, our design team quickly became instrumental in creating the structure, pacing, and story-line continuity for the entire visitor experience of the CTC Express.
The CTC Express travelled around the USA in customized Amtrack coaches. Led by a P42 Genesis series diesel engine, it included a vintage private parlor car doubling as historical artifact and special event space. The restored Railway Post Office car was repurposed into a small museum loaded with activities, videos and personal interactions with retired RPO clerks.
Displays in the RPO car and "Stamp of the Century" exhibits promoted stamp collecting, educational programs, and U.S. Postal Service history using multi-media and tactile devices. Augmented with story-telling RPO clerks as docents, visitors are immersed in a once-in-a-lifetime experience, celebrating the U.S. Postal Service’s significant role in American culture throughout the 20th century.
