Kenilworth Park and Aquatic Gardens
-
The signage along the Anacostia River Trail encourages visitors to take the path less followed.
-
Each sign was designed and fabricated for site specific conditions and oriented to maximize visibility.
-
Identity signs for the park's main entry, river entry and other locations adhere to NPS standards.
-
Wayside displays along the boardwalk replaced old weathered signs for the three distinct marsh zones.
-
The original hot houses from Shaw Gardens are still used today. NPS staff manage propagation of the water plants.
-
Some of the Lotus growing in this park were propagated from seeds that were over 400 years old.
-
Over a year was spent developing a variety of customized site specific, and NPS standard signs for the Park. Concept Sketch, for a lotus -form welcome sign.
-
Along the boardwalk, custom rail mounted waysides lead out to the marsh zones on the Anacostia River.
-
Sled frames allow interpretive displays to be moved around the gardens to suit blooming and site conditions.
-
View into the tidal marsh shows Anacostia River marshland restored to nearly natural state.
Working closely with the National Park Service and the Friends of Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens, Paris Design created new entry and identity signs along with a range of wayside graphics throughout the park.
Many sign styles, both custom and conforming to NPS standards were considered for use at this site. Sled bases were chosen for many of the waysides to accommodate changing site conditions throughout the year.
We provided sign structure design, all graphics, curated content and wrote and edited copy for the park signage.
