The Nature Center at Quiet Waters Park interprets diverse ecosystems, flora, fauna and human impact on the landscape of this suburban park in Annapolis, MD.
Working closely with the Friends of Quiet Waters Park staff, Paris Design guided the full interpretive plan, curated content, then developed all exhibits and graphic design for the center.
The strategy for this Nature Center is to repurpose under-used corridor space at main visitor center into an engaging, science forward, educational space. Thematic areas feature park amenities along with the key terrestrial and aquatic ecologies of Forest, Meadow, Shoreline, Stream and Marine waters.
Archeological finds on site, pre-historic indigenous people, the colonial period in Maryland, and owners of the farm before it became a park are interpreted in the Legacy section. Sustainability displays focus on processes, materials and positive environmental activities operating in the park.
Graphics were designed to be used as stand-alone info posters that could be reproduced for use in ranger led out-reach and other educational programs.
